Annual General Meeting

Draft Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 18th November, 2013

Present: Robert Twyford (in the Chair),  Mike Findeisen (Hon Secretary),Alexa Nesbit (Hon Treasurer), Heather Lee (Committee Member), Joyce Shaw (Committee Member) and 18 Members.

1. Apologies for absence were received from  Joe Flegg.

2. The Minutes of the last Annual General Meeting held on 19th  November, 2012 were proposed by Joyce Shaw and seconded by Michael Gibbs to be confirmed as a correct record. They were then signed by the Chairman. There were no matters arising from the Minutes.

3. Election of Officers and Committee Members. These were at present as follows:

Chairman
Hon Treasurer
Secretary CLHRG
Committee Member
Committee Member
Hon Secretary

Robert Twyford
Alexa Nisbet
Peter Howard
Heather Lee
Joyce Shaw
Mike Findeisen

Whilst Mike, Alexa, Heather and Peter  had agreed to continue, Robert  and Joyce had said they would like to stand down. No nominations had been received to fill these posts. Mike said that he would be willing to take over as Chairman in addition to being Secretary for the forthcoming year, but would not be seeking re-election at the next AGM.  If there was to be a future for our Local History Group it would be necessary to find a replacement during the forthcoming year.    As no other nominations had been received for any of  other posts on the Committee it was proposed by Rosemary Gibbs and seconded by Barbara Cato that the following  be re-elected.  which was carried unanimously. The Committee for the forthcoming year will be comprised as follows:

Chairman & Hon Sec
Hon Treasurer
Secretary CLHRG
Committee Member

Mike Findeisen
Alexa Nisbet
Peter Howard
Heather Lee

(Subsequent to the Meeting Marjorie Taylor said she would be willing to join the Committee as a Committee Member.  She would therefore for the time being join as a co-opted Member.)

4. The Annual Accounts for the year 2112/13 were distributed to members present.  These showed a current balance of £493.04 which was a reduction of £127.18.  However this was mainly due to the cost of the buffet at last year‘s AGM. It was not our aim to build up a large surplus and it was recommended to continue the subscription at £15 which would be sufficient of cover our running expenses with sufficient reserve for contingencies. It was proposed by Heather Lee and seconded by Val Hall that the Accounts be adopted which was carried unanimously. It was also agreed to appoint Michael Gibbs as Honorary Auditor .

5. Peter Howard gave a Report of the proceedings of the Craster Local History Research Group.  He said that only one public meeting had been held which had been attended by a small number of people.  However none had wished to take part in the research work of the Group.  Peter proposed that the requirement for holding specific meetings be deleted from the Group‘ Constitution.  At this point a member questioned the need for a separate constitution for this Group.  It was explained that this had been agreed at the last AGM and that only a minor amendment was now being sought.  The member persisted in maintaining that a separate Constitution was unnecessary and a lengthy discussion ensued.  Eventually Robert Twyford pointed out that this matter was tantamount to an additional item to the Agenda which had not been previously notified. In the light of this the matter was closed. Peter Howard then stated he no longer wished to continue as secretary of the Research Group and offered his resignation which was reluctantly accepted.

6. Mike gave an outline of the programme which had been arranged for January to July 2014.  He said that RAF Boulmer had agreed to our visit on a date to be arranged in July, but that we would be restricted to a maximum of 10 people. Details would be published later and the first 10 respondents would go.  A copy of the Programme is attached.

7. There being no further business the formal meeting was closed. This was followed by an
informal gathering at the Jolly Fisherman at which we were entertained to a highly amusing Magic Show by  Barbara Cato.
